BECK: “Domestic Terror Attack Imminent; Violent Left Wing Americans will be behind it”

Yesterday, Professor Glenn Beck informed his viewers, or should I say the scholars enrolled in his course “Obama- Will-Be-Rounding-You-Up-and-Jailing-You-Any-Day-Now -101” that a looming violent event is coming in America. Now, no prerequisites are required to enroll in Professor Beck’s class, as a matter of fact, the lower your level of education, the more likely you are to excel. Prof. Beck does not want anyone tainted with the brainwashing doled out by the liberal education system. No, the ideas of American Exceptionalism and Manifest Destiny were taught in one room school houses like those on the Little House on the Prairie, and our education system need not instill us with any more than that.

Isn’t that so, Professor Beck?

Juan Williams: “NPR is worse that Nixon”

SHARE THIS Add to DeliciousAdd to DiggAdd to FaceBookAdd to Google BookmarkAdd to RedditAdd to StumbleUponAdd to TechnoratiAdd to Twitter

The Juan Williams NPR firing Fox hiring debacle just will not go away, and once again, and I hate to say this, but it is the extreme right wing end of the argument that is winning the spin game.

It all started when Bill O’Reilly went on The View and well, take a look:

Whoopi and Joy, you could have said, yes, Bill, it is a fact that Muslim’s killed us on 9/11. Because, well it is a fact. But is only the most recent chapter in a long history of US meddling (let me clarify that term)-murdering innocent civilians — innocent civilians in the middle east, many of them Muslim’s and all perilously close to the Muslim holy city of Mecca and the Hyper-capitalist holy grail of foreign cheap oil.

I’m talking about a history that goes back to at least 1953 when the CIA overthrew Iran’s democracy and the more recent history of the first gulf war, and the subsequent sanctions that killed at least 1/2 million Iraq children while leaving US boots on the ground in the middle east.

Then a few radical Muslims-from Pakistan and Saudi Arabia it seems, aided and abetted by an ignorance or a come on over wink wink nudge nudge say no more attitude that went all the way up to the White House flew a few planes into a copula buildings, killing thousands of Americans.

So what do we do? We launch a viscous and brutal war against the defenseless country of Iraq that killed at least 1 million innocent civilians and created untold numbers of orphans at least a few of which, I am certain, will grow into radicalized Muslim’s prepared to martyr themselves.

So when, days later, Juan Williams says in a debate with Bill O’Reilly that he does a double take when he is on a plane and he sees people who self identify as Muslims, this is understandable. Muslims, like Christians, are batshit crazy to begin with, what with their irrational belief in an all knowing creator of the universe that wrote a book of laws for them to live by (and a confusing book at that, preaching peace on the one hand and commanding you to kill the infidels on the other). Juan’s fear is also understandable in the context of the oil and flame combination of these batshit crazy religious people being incited by the unbelievable amount of their blood shed by American hands.

Where Juan’s fear is not justifiable is in the context of statistics. The overwhelming majority of Muslims just want to eat, work, and play in peace. Williams himself made this point, but it was to late, because NPR has shown itself incapable of any sophisticated debate or discussion about the holy war we are waging in this world.

We know that the randian regressive christian conservative tea bagging fox news network wielding a blunt instrument in the merry go round of the 24 hour partisan feeding frenzy, but NPR, in explaining Juan Williams firing stooped to suggesting that Williams “keep his comments between him and his therapist”.

Fox news, not missing a PR beat, reached into their pockets and has snatched up Williams, offering him a $2 million contract. Sarah Palin, without a mis spelled word or malaprops in sight, wrote:  “If NPR is unable to tolerate an honest debate about an issue as important as Islamic terrorism, then it’s time for ‘National Public Radio’ to become ‘National Private Radio,'” she wrote. “It’s time for Congress to defund this organization…President Obama should make clear his commitment to free and honest discussion of the jihadist threat in our public debates – and Congress should make clear that unless NPR provides that public service, not one more dime.”

And Juan Williams wrote on Fox News.com “Daniel Schorr, my fellow NPR commentator who died earlier this year, used to talk about the initial shock of finding himself on President Nixon’s enemies list. I can only imagine Dan’s revulsion to realize that today NPR treats a journalist who has worked for them for ten years with less regard, less respect for the value of independence of thought and embrace of real debate across political lines, than Nixon ever displayed.”

When you get a card carrying liberal like Juan Williams to place a standard bearer of the liberal elite like NPR below tricky Dick Nixon, then I am left tipping my cap to my regressive counterparts on the right. They simply are better at spin. Their victory is our loss.

Again.

An Open Letter to Jon Stewart

Dear Mr. Stewart:

I am one of the growing legion who plan on attending the Rally to Restore Sanity on October 30th, and my hopes are high. Why? Because I am going insane and I would like very much thank you to have my sanity restored.

And because the world we live in, the unfolding 21st century with America behind the wheel is currently in a slow motion suicide; a tragedy fit for Shakespeare, or at the very least-a new Showtime series. And in Shakespeare, it is often the court jesters who exhibit the most wisdom. On Showtime it dope dealing single Mom’s. As appealing as  Mary Louise Parker is on weeds, I doubt future generations will be gleaning life lessons from the “Tao of Nancy Botwin.”

So, I’m hoping, Mr.Stewart, that you are onto something as wise – and as funny, as a Shakespearean fool.

Even though my political leanings and yours tilt the same direction, Mr. Stewart, I am going insane.  Why? Even just reading the news on a regular basis, and skipping the hyperbolic commentary from the talking head performance artists employed by the FUX news network is enough to make one insane.

For example-take the recent story about US Soldiers in Afghanistan who allegedly keep the fingers from Afghan civilians they had killed as war trophies.

Now, many people will say, you know, that war is ugly. These things happen in war. Don’t criticize the soldiers you pinko commie fag or the next time I see you on the street I will rip your trachea out, put it on a kabob,  BBQ it and feed it to your mom! Soldiers fight and die to preserve our way of life-if they want a few fingers then hell, let them take fingers, toes, let them have all the Temporomandibular joints they want!

To which I respond, have you ever had BBQ’d TRACHEA? And, oh, bye the bye, the idea that soldiers fight and die to preserve our way of life has about as much veracity as the combined myths of the tooth fairy, Easter Bunny and Santa Claus, and of since the end of WW2, war-covert, overt or otherwise, is the default setting for the US.

Making us a society living in denial. A homicidal denial that has made us – according to your arguments, a very rich people unbothered by the blood on our hands. Is that who really are? A nation of MacBeth’s married to Martha Stewart, with enough products at our disposal to wash all the blood from our hands. “Out Out damn spot?” No problem! Guilt free world domination and a living room ready for a pictorial spread in next months’ Architectural Digest.

So, what is a peace loving pinko commie fag to do? Take to the streets, like they did in the 60s? What did the 60s teach us? After they killed Kennedy Malcolm Martin and Kennedy again, what happened? All those baby boomer hippies put their tails between their legs, got hair cuts, went to work for Wall Street or pharmaceutical firms, getting rich off of creative complex derivative markets and Viagra.

And all of this time US foreign policy has been much the same. Whether it be Jimmy Carter or George Bush in the White House,  since Fat Man paid a visit to Hiroshima the underlying assumptions that govern the US role in the world (i.e., – the world is a bad place that needs a cop, and that the US – not the UN or some other coalition-is the only force with the will and moral authority to act as this cop) has not been challenged by many elected officials and by exactly zero Presidents.

And it is this foreign policy-not the fact that Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton walk the red carpet panty-less, that has made radical Islam our enemy. And that is why some of us here on the left have lost our sanity. As distasteful and insane as Rev. Wright can sound, the chickens are indeed coming home to roost.

It has been suggested to me that your call, Mr. Stewart, for a restoration of sanity  (equally calling out the extreme elements on the left and the right) is a truly subversive gesture. That reality and sanity, as you have said, have a liberal bias. That the true moderates, the people you affectionately refer to as the “busy majority” want calm dialogue, will become progressives, if given the opportunity to actually have that dialogue.

Or are you just doing this for the ratings?

I suppose to have any kind of effect at all you’ll need both the former and the latter.

- Davis Fleetwood.

Jon Stewart Calls Fox “The Lupus of News,” Says “Go F*ck Yourself” With Backing From a Gospel Choir

Stewart Vs. Fox, round 1,341

This summer, the Right Network will premiere, making Fox News look like very middle of the road by comparison. Until that next chapter in the infotainment culture wars begins, it sure is fun watching John Stewart pick apart the regressive windbags at Fox.

Last week John Stewart ended yet another critique of Fox news hypocrisy with a line that could only have been penned by a team of highly paid writers when he said, in a shot heard round the internets, “You know I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, go Fuck yourselves.”

Stewart opened last night’s show by breaking down the Fox News rebuttal, offered up by Bernie Goldberg, whose sniveling direct address to Stewart served like slow pitch batting practice pitches that Stewart dutifully hit over the fence- erupting into a gospel number in which had Stewart dancing and testifying, gospel style, while he and his background singers repeatedly sang “Go Fuck Yourself.” And his writers earned their paycheck when Stewart said:

“Fox News is such a crazy overreaction to the perceived threat of the liberal pathogen in evidence at NBC, ABC & CBS, that it is like an autoimmune disorder. I’m not saying the virus does not exist in some small quantity, but you are producing way to many antibodies. Fox News: You’re the Lupus of News.”

As Stewart points out again and again, Fox cannot win this argument and maintain it’s “Fair and balanced” moniker. Stewart, as he himself contends, is not drifting into the news category. The News is drifting into his. Continue reading

Obama: Palin ‘not much of an expert on nuclear issues’

“In a world of conflict, a world of victims and executioners, it is the job of thinking people, not to be on the side of the executioners.” – Albert Camus

by Davis Fleetwood

Barack Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev, the Russian leader, signed an arms treaty that will slash their respective nuclear arsenals to their lowest levels since the 1960s. If both countries respective legislative branches ratify the treaty, the two former adversaries in the cold war will now only have nukes to blow up the world 798 times over.

Commiserating with Russia. What would Ronald Regan say? Clearly this socialist bastard has finally gone to far in sacrificing defense.

The Obama administration set the stage for his overseas trip by announcing a new nuclear policy with the intent of limiting the threat of a catastrophic international conflict. Included in the new strategy is a vow not to develop new nuclear weapons and clarifying the circumstances under which the United States would use nuclear weapons.

Secretary of defense Robert Gates said:

“If a non-nuclear weapons state is in compliance with the Non-Proliferation Treaty and its obligations, the U.S. pledges not to use or threaten to use nuclear weapons against it. If, however, such a state were to use chemical or biological weapons against the U.S. or its allies, it would face the prospect of a devastating conventional, or non-nuclear, military response.”

And the Washington Post reported shed some light on what a future devastating response would look like, reporting that a new weapon being developed by the Pentagon, the so called prompt global strike weapons, are missiles armed with conventional warheads that could strike anywhere in the world in less than an hour.

A new super weapon that can strike anywhere in the world in an hour? That would surely be welcome news to the former runner up to Ms. Wassilla 1984 and current headlining act for the Tea Party Tour.

Mrs. Palin said:

“You know that is kind of like, uh, getting out there on the playground, a bunch of kids ready to fight and one of the kids saying go ahead punch me in the face and I’m not gonna retaliate… go ahead and do what you want to with me.”

Obama, when reminded of this quote during an interview with Alex P. Keaton, was clearly miffed, and fired back with “Last time I check, Sarah Palin is no expert on nuclear issues.”

But in this partisan media-wrestling match, it is not so much what you say, but how you say it. Obama’s thoughtful, measured, rhetorical style, sharpened while president of the Harvard Law Review appeals to about 4.3% of Americans, while Palin’s down homey, if factually inaccurate, delivery honed as a communication major at North Idaho community College appeal to a much larger base of real Americans.

As always, both sides of this tête-à-tête miss the point. Simply put since World War 2, the metaphor of children fighting on a playground, and the U.S., as just another child is way off base. The U.S. is more like a bully, a fully-grown adult bully busting the skull of sixth graders who dare not turn over their lunch money.

The Tea Party would have you believe that Obama is the most radical President ever. I’ve got a radical nuclear proposal for you. Russia and the United States should distribute nuclear warheads to every country in the world.

Equally. Just level the playing field. Let all the kids on the playground have the potential to enact a Hiroshima or a Nagasaki on the other kids ass. Do this, and one of two things will happen:
1. The human race, embolden because all of the have not’s are suddenly in the “haves” column will make an evolutionary leap, born out of Darwinian necessity, and realize a heretofore unforeseen path to sustained peace and prosperity for all.

Or

2. The human race will exterminate itself quicker than you say Revelations, Chapter 16, verses 13 and 14.

I’m a gambling man; I think it is worth the risk.

The Tea Party Movement Vs. Socialism

The Tea Party Movement Vs. Socialism

by Davis Fleetwood

A Gallop poll conducted in late March shows that more than 1 in 4 Americans support the Tea Party Movement with a stunning 37% indicating that they view the gun toting Randian Regressive mob of Sarah Palin followers favorably.

Is it time for rational thinking progressives to move to Montreal, or can we fight back?

Before you get to depressed over the recent Gallop Poll and what it might say about the Citizens of the Unites States, you should understand the following: Given how little the average American knows about politics, you can find roughly 4 in 10 Americans who will give a positive rating to anything.

Why?

As Americans, we are, on the whole, so uniformed, so afraid of conflict, so guilt ridden by our status as victors in the birthplace lottery that had us born in the country with the most missiles and the most money thus affording even those us bearing the weight of an underwater mortgage a life in the lap of luxury compared to, say our brothers and sisters in the Gaza strip or the Deomcratoc Republic of Congo that we really don’t want to rock the boat.

Compare the 37% who said they viewed the Tea Party favorably and compare that to the 36% who said they had a positive view of socialism. Both polls were conducted by Gallop.

Ironic, given that one way the tea party is slowly stirring its followers into a revolutionary froth is by spreading fear that Obama enacting a socialist takeover of the country. Remember the Town Hall tour Obama embarked on last summer, as he tried to win support for health care reform? More than one tea party terrorist, emboldened by Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck, shouted “I don’t want socialized medicine. And keep the governments hands off my Medicare!

A Confederacy of Dunces

So, is Obama a socialist?

OY! We should be so lucky.

In an article yesterday in the Journal Sentinel of Milwaukee, John Gurda details a 50-year period when the city of Milwaukee actually elected a string of Socialist Mayors. It is the only major American city to ever do so. From 1910- to 1960, with a few gaps in between, socialists governed Milwaukee.  How did that work out?  A great public parks system, plenty of jobs and industry, and, as Gurda puts it:

“It also embodied a deep and timeless blend of pragmatism and idealism. Although they worked for real-world reforms, the Socialists didn’t stop there. They called their fellow citizens to a higher conception of the common good, one that placed cooperation above competition and mutualism above bare self-interest. They believed that a government based on those ideals was humanity’s best hope for the future.”

Hollywood even mad a TV show about socialist Milwaukee in the 1950s. It was called Happy Days.

Sarah Palin’s Real American Stories: A Kindler, Gentler Form of Propaganda

Sarah Palin: Real American Stories
by Davis Fleetwood
find me on facebook, AlterNet, twitter, itunes, BlipTV, youtube, myspace

Sarah Palin’s first TV special aired on Fox last night.

If you missed it, it will re-air Easter Sunday at 9PM. Christ has died, Christ has risen, but after seeing Sarah Palin’s Real American Stories, if Christ does “come again” to save these libertarian murderers- I’ll choose the 9th circle of hell rather than spend eternity with these ass-hats, thank you very much.

Heroism, Courage, generosity and the warrior spirit those are things that unite all Americans. With this, the ½ term Alaska Governor, former VP nominee, runner up for Miss Wasilla 1984, and current headlining act for the tea party terrorist tour, began her much anticipated one hour Fox Special.

And then, to music recorded on a special new machine made from recycled heartstrings, Palin trotted out her stories.

Among them a canned interview, with a Sarah Palin voice over superimposed over 1-year-old Fox News Coverage of Toby Keith discussing the inspiration for his best selling hit “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue.” There is no doubt that the country song has made a huge impact on the warrior spirit culture of American Life. I wonder how many men and women, who, at last call at some bar popped Keith’s “Courtesy of the Red White and Blue” on the jukebox and then vowed, after one last shot of Jack Daniels, to enlist in the Army. I wonder how many of them died or are currently dealing with life altering injuries sustained in a war based on lies that had nothing to do with protecting – as Miss Wasilla- I’m sorry- I mean the runner up to Miss Wasilla 1984- our “American Way of Life.”

Certainly this did not seem to apply to another profile on last night’s show: Jason Dunham, a heroic Marine who gave his life to save his comrades in Iraq. When a grenade was dropped amongst his men by an Iraqi insurgent (an by insurgent we mean someone with the balls to protest the illegal invasion and occupation of their country by an imperialist Empire) Jason Dunham did not run, he placed his helmet atop the grenade. His friends were saved. Dunham died. And while this example certainly satisfies the opening thesis of Palin’s program, Heroism, Courage, generosity and the warrior spirit, can we not agree and acknowledge that the tears we shed for Jason Dunham are not tears of pried, but of shame that he died in vain?

The most effective story Palin pandered last night was that of George Weiss, and his SAY YES program. Weiss, is a wealthy businessman who helps prepare underprivileged students for college and pays for their education. He famously walked into a 6th grade classroom in a rough section of Philadelphia some years ago and told all of the kids there that if they graduated high school, he would personally pay for their college education.

And then he backed it up.

George Weiss is a hero in my book. But are we to rely, as Palin remarked, on the power of the “voluntary private sector contribution to recognize where a need is, and how the can jump in and help.”

Yes, friends, Real American Stories is a feel good libertarian manifesto that aspires, not so much to Glenn Beck saber rattling, but to a kinder, gentler approach of propaganda.

But are we, as Sarah Palin told her exclusively white Fox studio audience, to bank on a future that relies on the voluntary private sector contribution to remedy the evils of inequity brought on by that very same unregulated private sector?

The rate of poverty in the United States is more than three times as great as Switzerland, a government that functions much like Federal Republic with a spoon full of socialism thrown in for good measure. The Swiss are, by all accounts, much happier than Americans, living as they do in a much more equitable society. Then again, they don’t have to spend so much money on their military, the bloated wasteful budget of which accounts for more than 50% the expenditures of the U.S. government to fund what the Cover Girl for Tea Party Terrorism calls the warrior spirit of America.
